Meet the Team: James Abrot, Lead Web Developer

A closer look at the person behind the code — and yes, he really does have a YouTube channel about trading cards.

At UNFINISHED, we build more than websites. We build relationships, and that starts with getting to know the people doing the work. First up in our team spotlight series is James Abrot, our Lead Web Developer. We asked James a few questions to help you get to know him a little better, on and off the clock.

What's your role at UNFINISHED, and what does a typical day look like for you?

I'm the Lead Web Developer here.

What drew you to this kind of work in the first place?

I've always loved building things, so being able to create a website from scratch and watch it come to life was something I found really exciting.

What's your favorite part of working with our clients?

Getting to meet new people across so many different fields. Every client brings something different to the table, and I love that variety.

What's one thing you wish more people knew about what you do?

Outside of work, I'm a huge trading card collector (specifically One Piece cards). I actually run a YouTube channel dedicated to it, so it's a bigger part of my life than people might expect.

What do you do outside of work when you're not building/managing things?

I help out at our church and our Christian school, and I spend a lot of time (and probably too much money) managing my card collection.

What's a skill or hobby you have that has nothing to do with your job?

I love acting, and I can actually do impersonations of a few famous characters, including the Joker from The Dark Knight.

Who's your dream client?

Bandai, since they make One Piece Cards, or the Lakers.

What's your advice for someone just starting out in your field?

Learn to enjoy the work itself before you start worrying about how profitable it can be.

That's James in a nutshell: a developer who genuinely loves building things, whether that's a website, a card collection, or a killer Joker impression. Stay tuned as we continue introducing you to the rest of the team behind your projects.
